I just heard a snippet on the radio of how a few people in San Francisco have bought plasma TVs off one those "have I got a deal for you in the back of my van" guys. Turns out that the TV was actually the door off a stove! Not sure how true it is, I just tried to Google the story and can't find anything. I can buy stoves and/or TVs, but no con story. However, it's nutty enough that it has to be true.

More info here (including how one could be fooled by it).

Thanks! I think my problem was searching for stove and not oven. What I find really humorous is that not only do you get the oven door, you get a cord and remote too!

Gives a new meaning to "hot" merchandise, doesn't it?

Call me calloused, but I think they got what they deserve. I mean, would *you* buy a TV from someone on the street without checking the package first?

Cheers!

Calloused? I'm that, too, but I'm also callous.

Adjective, not verb. :P

Cheers!

Completely agree.
What made me laugh even more was the fact that the oven door even came with a cord and a remote.
