fancytalk: (music)
I've been annoyed with MTV and VH1 for a while because they barely play music videos anymore. When they do manage to play a few, it's the same 20 that I've seen 20 other times. However, since I thought part of the problem was the fact that I chose two specific shows to record, that I would step it up and record anything that came on in the middle of the night or really early in the morning. ('Cuz I'm asleep and I don't want to disturb my beauty rest.)

So last night I set up every single music video segment on MTV and VH1. Which was actually very few given the amount of 30 minute crap shows they had on last night. And this morning I watched/fast forwarded while I ate my breakfast. Here are the results -

MTV - 2 hours of music videos - all Rap - all bad Rap - and if I see another Rap video with blinding bling, the Bently (or other flashy car) thumping, the over-made, pouffed-up, practically nekkid girl rubbing all over the rapper like he was better than sliced bread, and the same frickin' line over and over (Mims - This is why I'm hot) I think I might scream. Or at least not watch MTV anymore, at least not for music. I like my rap old school. And I won't get into the nasty, bitch-slappin' rap.

Onto 4 hours of VH1, viewed in about 20 minutes - thank goodness for a fast forward button - Specifically this was JumpStart - theorectically I think it should be a wide variety of stuff - Oh no - I'm completely wrong - It's 4 hours of Fresh and then you get the hour of Fresh when JumpStart ends - So I've seen Beyonce/Shakira - 3, Fergie (Glamorous) - 4, Justin w/Scarlett - 4, The Killers - 3, Nelly Furtado - 3 . . . The same frickin' videos over and over and over. Yes, there were other videos and commercials in there. I finally saw Katherine McPhee and Hilary Duff's videos, but overall it was repeats of the same stuff I've seen. I want some fresh music!!!!!!

So is it just me or do I have some idealized view of what MTV used to be? That you were able to see favorites and Top 40 and all that stuff, but you also were exposed to new stuff on a regular basis. Oh well, I guess I'll go back to searching out new music on my own instead of relying on the media to expose me.

And now Ronette has a new boyfriend.
She's been watching way too much BBC while in Paris and has discovered a show called Creek. And now she is in love with the star Alan Davies.
Ah well, she let's me have Vincent, so she can have Alan. ;)
