I have just discovered the joy of using Coinstar for gift cards and e-certificates.
All my loose change is now converted into Christmas gifts.
The best part is that converting your coins in to gift cards means no 8.9 cent transaction fee.

Is your refrigerator running?
If it is, you better go catch it!

So you need to get out of an awkward situation or just want to show the world how popular you are, use the Popularity Dialer to get calls to your cell phone to do all that.

You only get 5 free, so use them wisely.

Who knows what motivated me to visit Music Outfitters and type 1991 in their search engine.

I've seen this a couple of other times, where you highlight the songs you remember from the year you graduated. I'd like to see a more comprehensive list than just what's on the pop charts. Although sickly, I know most of the pop charts too. I might have to try this for other years.

That almost killed me I might add. Geez. I walked because parking would be a bitch. I didn't take my bike because I didn't think I should operate a moving vehicle. Needless to say, I need to rest now. Good thing I picked up an extra book to go along with my regular fare.

The reason for more boring "I <3 libraries" talk is because I have to tell [livejournal.com profile] yarbiedoll about the Art and Music section. The 5th Floor. Yes, that's right, an entire floor dedicated to art and music. I actually went upstairs looking for a book on crocheting with beads, but I heard angels singing as I stepped off the elevator and went to explore. I don't think I've seen a library this well equipped in art and music ever.

Movies galore. It's better than any video rental store.
The vinyl records. I think they had just about everything.
A great assortment of cds.
The piece de resistance? An entire wall of sheet music. Scores of piano music. And I'm not talking a 5 x 8 rectangle of wall-space. Think D. H. Hill and think of one of the rows in the stacks, 9th floor is probably a good imaginary space. Imagine one of those filled from Brahms to Stravinsky with two rows dedicated to Haydn. Sheet music as far as the eye can see. I may have blacked out in the glory. I desperately want my piano here so I can check out music.

OK I'm having a lazy day and am reading a book. I've got the television on in the background and I'm listening to MTV. We won't get into why I'm listening/watching MTV but I've just watched my first episode of TRL - just because it was on and I was too lazy to change the channel.

The Find:
They just did this 30 second spot on a group called Young @ Heart Chorus.
You'll have to read the story if you're interested but it's a chorus of people who are over 70. They don't sing the traditional choral songs, they sing rock classics and current hits. TRL was highlighting their rendition of Hey Ya. It would be a trip to have an album of them performing. You can check out a few MP3s on the site like Stairway to Heaven, Whip It and Staying Alive.

Discovery!

I discovered Radio on the iTunes list today.
It's all 80's, all day and all night!
Even better, I can listen to pop radio from other countries! Exciting!
What is so funny about this discovery is that I used to listen to internet radio all the time. Why didn't I think of this before?
My only issue is that I don't get the song name or artist, so I'm looking up song lyrics when I can't figure out who is singing.
But I'm having loads of fun singing. : )
