GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
Sesame Workshop seeks an individual to assist with Sesame Workshop’s coordination of all aspects of the Workshop’s annual gala as well as cultivation and stewardship events for major donors and prospects, current and potential corporate and foundation funders. The person in this position must possess excellent organizational skills, writing skills, verbal communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal staff and external constituencies at all levels. S/he must work independently and as part of a team; must be results-oriented and able to meet deadlines; and must be highly detail-oriented while maintaining sight of the big picture. Reports to AVP, Major Giving.
POSITION PROFILE:
•Plan and coordinate logistics of all development events, including corporate, foundation and individual cultivation events, and aspects of the annual Gala
•Draft, shepherd and execute correspondence for honorees, corporate representatives and board members, as well as internal correspondence.
•Manage and execute invitation and acknowledgment mailings. Responsibilities include data collection and management, coding, mail merge and assembling packages.
•Develop and coordinate mailing lists from database, Workshop staff, and volunteers. Work with Manager of Development Systems to ensure that mailing lists, gifts and other data are entered into Team Approach database; to provide regular financial reports for Workshop staff and Trustees; and to ensure timely acknowledgment of gifts.
•Research major donors, prospects and others. Prepare briefing materials for Trustees and Senior Management.
•Maintain paper and electronic filing systems.
•Work with various Sesame Workshop departments (e.g. Corporate Communications, Production, Marketing, Licensing) to support all event related activities.
•Help Philanthropic Development Department with donor database projects including but not limited to data clean-up, data entry and data coding.
•Execute other projects as assigned.
Additional Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
1.B.A degree
2.Two (2) years professional experience (development experience required)
3.Event planning experience preferable.
4.Experience with a fundraising software package preferred, e.g., Paradigm, Team Approach, Raiser’s Edge.
5.Proficiency in MS-Office, Outlook and MS-Word especially mail-merge functions; working knowledge of MS-Excel.
6.Good writing and proofreading skills.
7.The successful candidate will be a pro-active, self-starter and a hands-on problem-solver.
