With only one trip to OSH today, I have successfully replaced the p traps on the bathroom sink and the sink in the butler's pantry.

YEE HAW!!!!!

The butler's pantry p trap was a piece of cake. The p trap in the bathroom . . .
well let me tell you.

I had to saw off one inch on both the tail pipe (the pipe that goes into the main waste line) and the extension pipe on the sink drain. Since I can't find the actual hack saw, I ended up wrapping work gloves around a hack saw blade and sawing away. Yes it worked, but it was not the most efficient method. I've got to find the hack saw.

Since the first p trap was so easy, I thought to myself "no problemo". HAH!
I put everything together as it should go, teflon tape in all the right places, washers in the right places, all connectors tight and secure and the *ugly word* p trap leaked! I took the thing apart and readjusted everything about five times, then decided to get on the internet to find troubleshooting tips. I couldn't find any suggestions that I hadn't already tried, so I went back to and took everything back apart. I thought that maybe I was just a wee bit off, so the seal wasn't as tight as it should be. I put everything back together and it still leaked! Seeing as how I hurt my hand on this go-round, I said some ugly words and went to go sit on the couch for a bit.

RTL was working from home today and although normally she probably wouldn't bother me, today she kept asking "how's it going" approximately every 5 minutes or when she wasn't on a conference call. So as soon as I flopped on the couch . . .how's it going. My answer - the part that shouldn't be leaking is leaking. OK, yeah it was a snotty teenager answer, but I was frustrated and asking me "how's it going" didn't help diddly.

So I called my Daddy. He always has the answers. And with only one OSH trip today, my sink is fully functioning and no longer leaks where it shouldn't be leaking.

Next task is the faucet in the butler's pantry. Tune in later for the next episode of The Toilet Flushes.

I love my daddy.
He's the best.

I'll do a weekend update later. I just wanted to appreciate my dad some more.
