So I think I need to buy the dog a set of rain boots because walking around this apartment complex is like trudging through the swamp. His poor little paws soak up so much water.

What is the point of having a garbage disposal that will only grind soft things like carrots?

And what is the point of having a dishwasher if you have to prewash all the dishes before you put them in? Not just scraping off the bits and scraps of food, but literally rinsing them clean of anything that could make the water dirty.

Which goes back to the garbage disposal thing because you can't scrape the bits and scraps of food into it unless it's soft stuff like carrots. And no, it was never clarified whether the carrots could be raw or had to be cooked.

Why are the temporary housing people so incompetent? And why don't they communicate with each other? And if my internet is not working, why do you send me an email asking me to leave the modem for someone to pick up?

Also, why don't you tell the guy who is set to pick up the modem that he doesn't have to pick it up any longer. And why wait 5 hours to call me after I've left you the "this is unacceptable" message? Espcially when I already know that the cable issue is fixed because I fixed it.

And my lights are flickering and I've just realized that I don't have any candles to light if the power goes out.

Luckily I have my dog walking flashlight to use.

And I'm hungry. I want McDonalds. I never want McDonalds. But right now I do.

And I'm going to turn off the computer for a while since the lights keep flickering.

Our garbage disposol is about that bad as well... and it makes these scary metal-grinding noises when we use it, yet nothing metal is down there that shouldn't be.

Man. I hear it's pretty rainy out there in Seattle, but surely this is not a taste of what's to come... I hope not, anyway!

I think this post might be even more pitiful than the last Seattle post. Now I have this mental image of you and the dog, hungry and huddling in the dark to avoid the rain, without Internet. I'm not sure it could get any worse! :(

Actually it's rainier in San Francisco. However, Seattle is currently having the worst winter weather that they have seen in about 20 years. At least that's what everyone has been telling us.

And yes, it can get worse. No electricity, which finally came back on sometime last night. Poor Ronette left to go to work at 6:30 yesterday morning, not because she had to be there but she had a file she wanted to send out. Microsoft had no power so she hunted down one of the few Starbucks that had power. We went out at 2-ish for a doc appointment and to find food. It was kind of sad because the poor Subway guy announced to everyone coming in through the door "we have no bread, but I can offer you chips and drinks". Then everyone went next door to the BBQ place with them giving their list of what they had available. It kind of looked like a soup kitchen. We all had our styrofoam bowls of brunswick stew and cornbread with a little pat of butter.

But I have to say, I'm really liking Seattle despite the current weather. I've got lightning and green trees and it reminds me of home.

I heard about the power outages yesterday afternoon. They were reporting here that 2/3 of the area was without elecctricity. I wondered if that had affected you, too! I'm glad your power is back on... they were saying that the energy company was predicting several days worth of restoration efforts.

By the lack of people on the road this morning, I'm betting that there are still a lot of outtages. When the power came back on last night, Ronette and I probably would have gotten out of bed, cheered and turned on all the lights because we could. However, the bottle of wine we drank to keep warm prevented that. We're guessing that because we're so close to Microsoft campus that we were in one of the power grids that was fixed first.
