This is how the kitchen looked before we started reconstructing everything. See how the red ceiling weighs down on your head.
Aah! No more popcorn or drop ceiling for fluorescent light.
The joys of paint! It's amazing how a little color can transform or reform a room. And white ceilings! Who would have thunk it? There is a reason why we don't live in single color cubes.
The ominous hallway. The previous owner got this idea from Kill Bill.
Paint and new floors going in. Ignore the power tools.
Yes, if you weren't quite sure your eyes were seeing the right thing, the kitchen (and most of the house) is painted a lavender color. Technically the color is in the gray family, but it has enough purple in it that in a darker room it looks very purple. I'm completely digging it in the kitchen. Since the floor guy is putting the finish on the floors tomorrow, we are kicked out of the house until Friday afternoon.

Just remember to cover everything because it makes a big mess. The only thing you have to be careful with during scraping is to make sure you don't scrape the paper off the drywall. Of course, the other pain in the butt part is that the ceiling then needs to be re-mud-ed.
