XM4's and other misspellings
Aug. 8th, 2005 04:49 pmToday I find that I was added as a friend to someone I don't know. Of course I go to check it out. Here's what I find: There is a LJ user out there who has devoted their time and their journal to finding users who have misspellings in their interest section. No, I'm not going to put the LJ user name in this post because I don't want to continue the madness. Apparently this person has a lot of free time on their hands. And I'm giving them "air time" by posting my rant.
So I went to check out what was spelled wrong in my interest section. I thought their issue was my use of the word "ol" in Grand ol' Opry. And I, being annoyed by all of this anyway, gave in to the tempatation and posted a reply. The message back was that it wasn't "ol" but another word that I had spelled wrong. I'm seriously rolling my eyes at this point. Isn't there a saying about idle hands being the devil's playground? Since then I've double checked again and *oops* I had 3 c's in wicca. Gosh darn, I'm only human. Give me a break! I don't keep a journal to have someone else check my spelling for me. And since I have no point here other than to rant and be annoyed, I'm going to shut up and make it my effort to misspell to my hearts content.

Date: 2005-08-09 03:22 am (UTC)If you want, you can ban the offending user from your journal, which will have the effect of preventing their username from appearing in your Friend-of list. At one point in LJ-History, there were a lot of people intentionally making obscene user names for the sole purpose of defiling other people's userinfo pages. Now that user ban prevents the offending username from appearing on your userinfo page, it's a pretty good solution to problem users like this.
