Baby Taver's Baptism

Earlier in the week we received the birth announcement in the mail.
I was happy, extremely surprised and a bit annoyed.
This is the first thing that we haven't gotten a "sneak preview" of either through Bayly or his parents. And that's probably why we're a bit peeved around here. We've always been on the first to know list and now we're one step from the "if I run into you at the store and either I have the kid with me or remember that you probably don't know, then I'll tell you" list.

Today the peeved-ness continues with the baptism invitation.
I know they are new parents and that's difficult enough, but come on, pick up the phone. I think we deserve a "sorry we didn't call you sooner", I mean it's not like there's a 20 year history or anything. I feel like we're getting the "hi, we've had a baby and we haven't gotten a gift from you yet" mail.

I'm sure I'm overreacting and it's probably something really stupid and simple.

OK I am never one to call a spade a "digging implement", so please don't be upset that I shoot from the hip. I think you are COMPLETELY right that you should have had a call. You are in the right.

May I make a suggestion though? Even though you are in the right, could you call them? It is possible (I am a libran so I always see every damn option *Grin*) they realise they should have called you, but didn't. They may not know what to do next and be hoping you call them. I know it's not something you should HAVE to do, but it may be what they are hoping for given the circumstances THEY have created.

Please don't take this as me telling you how to run your life. It is just a suggestion from a friend who hates seeing the pain this is causing you. Feel free to tell me to P*SS OFF or whatever :) Oh and whatever you decide I wont say "Well I told you....".

Why would I hate you? If I didn't want someone to tell it to me like it is, then I wouldn't have posted my rant.

So the continuation of the saga is that I called to R.S.V.P. for the baptism. Talked to the happy daddy and nothing. Basically picked up from the last conversation we had. I realize the problem though - He's back to his clueless self. Which had improved when he first got married, but apparently the side effects of having a new wife start to dwindle after year 5. So until there is a cure for that, I'm just going to say "whatever" and be the one that calls more often.

I am glad you are one of those people who can see he is self absorbed, rather than thinking it was a reflection on you. It still hurts and irks, but at least you know "why" he acts that way :)
