Yes, that's right FedEx. I hate your company. I would prefer that when I purchase things online that the company does not use FedEx, but sometimes I have to suffer. And suffer I do because you can never deliver anything to my house on time, if at all. Today's undelivered package is just one of many examples. Tomorrow we'll see if the track record improves. I doubt it.

I'm going to yell into the computer instead of taking it out on the warranty people when I call them back.

I have a portable dishwasher that was giving me great joy until Saturday when it decided that it didn't want to work anymore. I investigate and see there is a lot of corrosion where the hose connects to the faucet. That's weird since the dishwasher was bought barely 6 months ago. I take everything apart, clean it up, put it back together, turn on the water and *pow* water all over the place. Maybe I didn't tighten everything enough. The answer is no as I get drenched again. This is why I bought the extended warranty, so I called to make an appointment and couldn't get one until today. Which really sucked because that meant at least 4 days of washing dishes by hand.

The deal with the appointment was that someone would call me between 7 and 9 to tell me when my appointment was. At 8:45 I find out that my appointment is between 9:30 and 11:30. He showed up at exactly 11:30. I show him the fountain leaking connection and he tells me that this is normal with portable dishwashers. WTF? It wasn't doing it before. Then he asks if the washer is filling with water. I didn't know so we check it out as I hold my hand over the fountain and watch water run down the hose onto the floor. The dishwasher is not filling with water. I'm feeling a little vindicated at that point knowing there is definitely a problem. He takes apart the machine, fixes it, but there is still water leaking at the connection. This is normal though. I get water into the dishwasher and he okays it to run a load.

So about 30 minutes ago I decide to test it out. I can't turn on the faucet high enough for the appropriate water pressure without water spurting everywhere. Out of desperation right now, I've rigged a plastic bag over the faucet to keep the excess water in the sink. I would bet a lot of money that there is more water going into the sink that the dishwasher. And as soon as I click the update journal button, I'm going to call and calmly explain how and why I am displeased with the way my dishwasher is currently working.

And yes [livejournal.com profile] curefreak I will post in <lj user="no_tip_for_you" along with the Target trauma. I've got more juice to add to that one.

I was listening to something on the radio earlier when I hear a blip about how seniors seeking information about the new Medicare prescription drug program were being directed to a sex line.

I was laughing my head off because this isn't the first time something like this has happened. I used to work a HIV/STD hotline. Our number was printed on the back of the Medicare cards. Whenever new Medicare cards were mailed out, I spent a week answering calls from seniors looking for Medicare information. I would have to explain that they had the wrong number which led to the "what's the number for" question. I loved the elderly ladies who called because when I said that I could answer questions about safer sex and such, I'd get answers like "oh honey, I don't need that anymore" or my favorite (and this lady called every month I think) "I haven't gotten any in so long that I can't remember what all the fuss is about". Even better were the people who said "well now that I've got you on the phone, let me ask you a couple of questions . . . "

ahhhh, I always used to bitch and moan about the Medicare calls, but in hindsight those were some of the better calls.
