He calls because he just wants to "chat". Then proceeds to tell me about the archaeology dig that his archeaology class is doing. And how he wants to go to NCSU to get a zoology degree and save animals and "stuff like that". He's a pretty cool kid.

A few months ago, my poor little nephew (spoiled child that he is) was lamenting (ok, he was complaining like all almost 9 year olds do) that he never ever got mail and everybody else in the house did. I asked him if he ever sent anybody else mail and of course he said no. So I did what every good aunt does, I set out to remedy the problem.

I found what is best described as stationary that folds into an envelope at Urban Outfitters. (If anyone know what this is called, please tell me.) Really neat. Put together like a pad of paper, it was set up so you wrote you letter then folded it up, addressed it, stuck a stamp on it and could mail it. The bonus was that the background is classic Superheros like Wonderwoman and Superman. Really cool.

So I sent it last week with a pen and some stamps - everything he would need to write and send a letter. In hindsight, I think I should have added a list of addresses, but my mom is pretty good about that. Today, I got my first letter. He really is a good boy. I'm very proud. Next I have to work on him writing his own letter.

Now I have to go look up Yip Harburg so I can figure out who he is.
