Where to go?
Mar. 27th, 2006 04:43 pmSince Ireland has now been moved to another time, where should we go in May/June?
Suggestions?
I suppose cost isn't really a factor. Well, it is sort of but not really.
I'm looking at Alaskan cruises or laying on a beach in Hawaii. The two things that we've decided we will do while we are on the west coast.
It will be high season in Europe, but who cares. Maybe something more exotic.

Date: 2006-03-28 12:59 am (UTC)We wanted to go for our honeymoon, but November isn't really the best time to go to Alaska (the cruises don't even run then). I want to do a cruise for past of the trip, then spend some time traveling around once we get up there. If ya'll go, you can do the
hard partplanning for me! ;)no subject

Date: 2006-03-28 03:10 am (UTC)I really would be interested to know what you guys decide. What looks good, what looks like it would might be a good idea but not worth the money or hassle, etc. I think we might actually make a go of it in spring/summer 2007.

Date: 2006-03-28 11:06 am (UTC)I went on a cruise a while back. it bored the Beejezus out of me. I really thought it would be great, but no. Your cabin is tiny and unless you are 90 or want to be drunk the whole time, it is a real bore. The food is ok, but tastes un-fresh, not stale, but un-fresh after a couple of days. The ports were awesome and really worth it, but the cruise itself was nothing like I expected, BIG disappointment.

Date: 2006-03-28 05:57 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'm not a big fan of cruises. I've done a couple, but my favorite part is when they fill the pools with sea water. That is where I live for the entire length of the cruise. From what I've heard about Alaska, a cruise really is the best way to go. Unless of course you rent a dog sled in the dead of winter, which doesn't appeal to me at all.
But the jury is still out on the final verdict. I'm supposed to do research today. We'll see what I come up with.

Date: 2006-03-28 07:29 pm (UTC)I've heard the same thing Dana has about Alaska - cruising the Inside Passage is supposedly one of the better ways to experience the area, especially if you can combine that with time spent inland on either side of the trip.
Australia is high on my personal list of places to visit. My brother-in-law spent 6 weeks there a couple of years ago and had a fantastic time. I'm jealous. :)

Date: 2006-03-29 09:16 am (UTC)I would love to check out Alaska. In actual fact I do, one day, want to have seen every country. I've been lucky so far, but there is still so much left to see.
